Developing Resilience

In these uncertain times amidst the pandemic , the most important attribute/skill one needs to have is : Resilience.
There are lives being lost, jobs being taken away, survival being challenged everywhere. Its practically impossible to be hopeful in such scenarios.
Here are few tips that might help one to develop resilience :
- Learn to Relax : Relaxation doesn’t mean vacation or going to sleep . It simply means making your schedule available for daily unwind. This helps the mind to shift gears and be more peaceful
- Practice thought awareness : Our thoughts shape up our feelings . Its very easy to tag a thought as positive or negative but the truth is : both are equally important . We just need to hold ourselves from getting consumed by them in a loop.
- Maintain perspective: If one has a stoic perspective towards life, it becomes easier to bounce back from tough times. Many a times , we underestimate our true potential . A quick way to practice this is self talk : Talking to yourself about your achievements , how you sailed through tough times.
- Choosing our response : Social Media, News and other sources of information demand our attention . They create certain neural patterns of thoughts and biases within us that makes us more weak. A better way to deal with tough situation is to choose our response.
- Making sure you aren’t the issue : If we learn to practice resilience, we can be certain that : Life can be full of adventures, challenges and situations but we ought to make sure : “We aren’t the issue”
- Embrace Change : Moving from Working in an Office Cubicle to Working in your Home , World moving to virtual platforms : A lot has changed in the past 14 months . Acceptance is the key to ride the wave of change.
While Resilience is much needed in these tough times, it comes by practice. The above pointers might help one if they believe in themselves.
